Documentary Wedding Photography
Detroit, Grand Rapids, Chicago + New York City and Beyond
For the madly in love

blending the timelessness of film with the precision of modern technology to tell your unique love story.
Why documentary photography?
Like most, I’m sure you have either been in a wedding or been a guest, where the photographer acts as a wedding planner, guiding the couple from staged moments to ensure they are capturing specific shots off of their lists. I will be observing from afar, capturing the true emotions of your wedding day while you’re soaking in each moment in real-time - as you should. Remember, you are the guest of honor on your wedding day. Many claim to take a “documentary” approach to weddings, but often, they end up asking for posed moments or staged laughs during getting-ready shots. My approach is with minimal posing—only for group portraits and bridal shots. Capturing your day and telling the love story how it feels, authentic to each couple.

The Experience
The wedding day - as a documentary wedding photographer I strive to document your love story as you tell it. Each little moment, your guest’s happy tears, your grandparents dancing, family portraits if you wish, and every moment in between. I’ve been to countless weddings where it felt as if the photographer was running the timeline, I won’t be posing you as you are getting ready. I won’t be pulling you aside at eight o’clock sharp to start the first dance, but I will make sure I am there when you decide to do so. Moments like these are so authentic, they shouldn't be forced or staged. You are the guest of honor at your wedding - you should be relaxed and soaking in your first day as husband and wife.
